MVP Controversy - Split Decision
The Coaches Poll MVP voting was supposed to be a formality - a simple end-note to put Rich’s Guy Day in the record books. But controversy erupted when Doc lapped the field on the way to winning the Coaches Poll MVP. Pre-voting favorites T-Mac and Phule finished second, while host Rich garnered the fourth-place vote.
“I’m not surprised. Doc put up a really good showing,” said runner-up Phule. “He was really a force in the Tennis warm-ups, and he put up solid scores in Moon Patrol and Popeye. There’s probably only 5 [of 7] guys or so that could beat him in of those events.”
Due to the convulated nature of the GDCS player rankings, T-Mac retains the overall MVP honors. Rumors are circulating that GD members want the GDCS rankings scrapped, in favor of a playoff system that would produce a single winner.
“I’d look forward to a playoff against the Doc,” said Phule. “That Guy’s got mad skills.”

TA Returns
Game 1: Greenhaven Showdown
Whoop-ass (T-mac) Ted, Dumbass - Rich, DJLA - Len, and D.Slayers - Dan square off in the initial rumble.
Map - Greenhaven
Greenhaven was no safe haven on Friday night as major battles broke out early. All four players had corners and attempted to entrench themselves but Whoop-ass (top left) attacked Dumbass (top right) for an early Phoenix Bomber kill.
Whoop-ass then turned South to attack DJLA (bottom right) and D.Slayers (bottom left) simultaneously. DJLA got the knock out punch against his brother D.Slayers with a typical massive air attack. Whoop-ass' pressure against DJLA by ground and air forced the DJ to attempt to relocate but Whoop-ass found the contingency base and "sent him to a better place."
Game 2: Coremaggedon Clash
A six-way battle on Coremaggedon. With metal in (over) abundance, players raced to put up get their offense and defense set up. DJLA was first to be shown the door, losing a positional battle with T-Mac.
Raven bombed out Host Rich (Dumass), while Phule launched an unrelenting bertha attack against Juan. T-Mac spent most of the game fending off various attacks, and couldn’t get his game in groove. Raven eventually provided the finishing
blow.
Controversy at the finish, as the game terminated with T-Mac’s exit. Host Rich commented derisively, “Whoop-ass took his bat and ball and went home. If he can’t play, no one can.” Score one win (tie) for Raven & Phule
Game 3: East Indeez Fracas
Another six-way battle, another bad day to be in the middle of the map. Raven and Juan battled vigorously form the middle, but the difficult starting position sealed their fate.
Dumass took out DJLA, while Phule took an all-out assult to Whoop-Ass for the second straight game. Saving the best for last, Phule combined a massive attack on Dumass with a impenetrable defense (2 vulcans, anyone?) to secure his second victory.
Game 4: Painted Desert: 3 Yards and a Cloud of Dust
The midnight matchup - what do you get when you rule out air units and dragon’s teeth? A power-on-power, no-holds-barred scrum in the middle of the desert. Whoop-Ass and DJLA
proved champions of the offense in this matchup, each staking out a corner and building up their all ground-unit war machine. .Whoop-Ass took the crown with a final assault of Commandos that punched through DJLAs base.

Victories:
Whoop-Ass - 2
Phule - 2
Raven - 1
> GDX Tournament
> Mario Power Tennis Tournament
The tennis tournament received an upgrade at the guy day tournament this time, as Mario Power Tennis (Gamecube) made its debut.
Host Rich (Dumbass) randomly assigned two-person teams, and luck of the draw put the top two tennis players together on the same team. T-Mac extended his tournament win streak with Ed as his partner.
Results (round robin):
Ted & Ed (Boo & Mario) def.
Juan & Derek (Luigi & DK)
Rich & Adam (Peach & Yoshi) def.
Juan & Derek (Luigi & DK)
Ted & Ed def. Rich & Adam (2x)
Reviews of Mario Power Tennis were mixed. Cracking out a giant hammer to make a shot has a certain luster, though not everyone enjoyed the gimmick shots. Further, T-Mac noted the star-powers from the fully unlocked N64 game were missed.
