Nascar 2004 - Back by Popular Demand!
Last year, Lem introduced Nascar 2004 to Guy Day (or was that the other way around...?), and everyone had a great time practicing their left hand turns.
Raven and Lem picked up where they left off last year, lapping the competition with their racing skills.
Guys were put on notice right from the first race at Bristol, where the short track made for high-contact racing. The race was run under yellow flag for 80% of the distance, as repeated bumping dropped racers one-by-one. Several guys took to heckling, “rubbin’ is racin’” (in their thickest, hick accent), while bouncing other racers from the field.
Summary of race events to follow...
Texas Hold ‘em!
Round 1 winner: DJLA. runner-up: Juan
No surprises here. A full table of Guys were methodically cut down to size by the brothers Anhold. DJLA commanded the action from the
top of the table, steadily increasing his chip count lead. Juan ousted Ed to narrow the field to the final two, then offered a pot split with DJLA to finish the first game.
Bocce
”Lem, why didn’t you roll this goat pasture...?”
A familiar refrain that means it’s time for GuyDay Bocce. Chilly conditions and an uneven field (seemingly moreso than usual) greeted the bocce competitors.
Three teams (Ed & Adam, Dan & Lem, DJLA & Ted) played to an even 1-1 split after the initial round robin event. In the opener, Ed & Adam shocked the favorites DJLA & Ted with a 7-3 winner, but then fell back to earth with a disappointing loss to Dan & Lem. DJLA & Ted got back in the tournament by winning the final match against Lem & Dan, setting the stage for an unprecedented playoff.
To determine a winner, the teams played a three-way game - the winner would be the first team to 5 points.
The three teams jockeyed for the win in the playoffs, each taking the lead at some point in the overtime round. Finally, with the score 4-4-3, DJLA & Ted took the victory, earning DJ his third GD Bocce title.
