DJLA - Guy Day Results - Superstars

A brisk and rainy day welcomed the return of the Guy Day Superstars competition. After a one year hiatus, DJLA brought the competition back for an encore. Six events of varying difficulty challenged the GD Superstars, with Lemmer earning a Gold-Medal victory by placing first or second in every event. Despite many predictions of injury, the Guys came through largely unscathed. Congratulations to Dan and Len for their silver and bronze finishes, respectively.

Free Throws (Highest Made in 20 attempts, no warmups allowed)
The first event was harder than it seemed, as host Len banned warm-up shots. Despite the non-regulation conditions, some Guys were more than up to the task.

Lem put on a clinic in the competition, by making 19 of his 20 shots. Remarkably, after his first shot miss, he was on automatic pilot for the rest of his run. Teddy Mac also showed a steady hand, hitting on 15 of his 20 shots.

Golf Chipping (aka The Hardest Guy Day Event Ever) 5 balls, 1 and 2 pt scores
OK Phil Mickelson ... think you have a good chip shot? Try chipping out of 4” rough to a 48” near-asphalt circle thirty feet away. And if the ball goes outside the circle, you get no points.

Six Guys took 5 shots each to try to land a ball in the money circle. To make things challenging, The rough surrounding the target held shots like Velcro, and the  flat, grassless target area (currently being studied by NASA for its nearly-frictionless properties) allowed every ball to roll through without stopping. After the first 30 attempts, exactly ZERO balls landed in the target zone.

A second round yielded similarly dismal results, but two Guys actually managed to do the impossible and stop a ball on the pseudo-concrete. Congatulations to Lem and Dan for Gold and Silver, respectively.
